do you think that the luka's folks would be interested in a downtempo/indie night or a college radio dj night? (other oakland bars have had weekly events with rotating kalx djs, radio may still be doing it but i'm not sure.) i could round up several good dj's for both things and would be up for organizing an event or two.

Maybe a good start would be to suck up to Star-D and see if he can give you an early slot on one of his nights (indie rock stuff might be an easier transition to the thumpa-thumpa for the diners at Luka's anyway). -

I've got an idea for you. As of this moment, it appears I've got Luka's for every Wednesday, but that's really too much commitment for me. My plan is to have the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays be nights for Break It, and Samira is planning on having Witches' Brew on the 3rd Wednesday. Would you be interested in organizing downtempo on the 1st Wednesday of each month?
I'd offer to come spin my chill collection from time to time as well... -
